The Fairfax Parks & Recreation Department works to bring a variety of fitness and wellness opportunities to the Fairfax community.

These programs are open to all people, although we recommend you pre-register and pay online before the first day of class.
You may also “drop-in” to the class, although it costs more to register that way.

Fall 2019 Schedule


Body Sculpt with Gail McKenzie (6:30PM – 7:30PM)
Only $42 for a 6-week session! Runs from 9/30 until 11/4!

This class incorporates a wide variety of exercises and equipment to strengthen your muscles, increase muscular endurance, and enhance bone strength!

All fitness levels are welcome and encouraged to attend – sign up for a total body workout!

Please bring dumbbells, mat, sweat towel, and water! No jumping, joint friendly!


Strength & Stretch with Danielle Rothy (6:00PM – 7:00PM)
Only $42 for a 6-week session! Runs from 10/2 until 11/6!

This combination class of Strength Training and Pilates will help you strengthen the whole body!

The first half of class will provide traditional weight lifting exercises – so please bring a set of moderately weighted dumbbells. The second half of class will focus on Pilates types of core strengthening, so please bring a mat.
This class is for all levels, everything can be modified for any of your needs!


Circuit Training with Danielle Rothy (6:30AM – 7:30AM)
Only $42 for a 6-week session! Runs from 10/10 until 11/14!

This bootcamp style class will work in stations!

Go through 2-4 circuits of various, weekly-changing exercises focused on strength, cardio, and core.
Please bring a mat and a moderate set of dumbbells. All skill levels welcome!

Tabatas with Gail McKenzie (6:30PM – 7:15PM)
Only $28 for a 4-week session! Runs from 10/3 until 10/24!

Each exercise in a Tabata workout lasts only four minutes -but it’s likely to be one of the longest four minutes you’ve ever endured!
The structure of the program is as follows: Work out hard for 20 seconds, Rest for 10 seconds, Complete 8 rounds, You push yourself as hard as you can for 20 seconds, and rest for 10 seconds… This is one set. You’ll complete eight sets of each exercise.
You can do pretty much any exercise you wish. You can do squats, push-ups, burpees or any other exercise that works your large muscle groups. Kettlebell exercises work great, too!


HIIT Fit with Danielle Rothy and Gail McKenzie (8AM – 8:45AM)
Only $42 for a 6-week session! Runs from 9/28 until 11/2!

HIIT, or high-intensity-interval-training, is a training program where you give 100% for a quick burst followed by a short, sometimes active, recovery period.
This type of training gets, and keeps, your heart rate up and burns more fat in faster time!
