On May 30th, community members across the state will be participating in the 50th annual Green Up day!
Obviously this year is a little different for everything, but we’re planning to have a table set up in front of the Town Offices on May 30th for you to pick up bags, grab a cup of coffee and other snacks, and receive physically distanced words of encouragement from us!
We’ll also have bags available for pick-up before May 30th (we’ll let you know here when they’re ready!)
Green Up Vermont is a non-profit and would love to see the people of Vermont donate their time to a great cause!
Update: March 27th
Hi everyone, we have a few updates for you all.
First off, you’ll see directly above this update that we’ve established a Covid-19 web resource page on this website. It includes updates and information relevant to Fairfax residents, including a directory listing business closures and changes.
At this time, the only event we have cancelled is the Fairfax Egg Hunt (which was supposed to take place on April 4th). We are waiting for instruction from Green Up Vermont as we are currently discussing with them the possibility of moving Green Up day to May 30th, or potentially a different time this year.
We are making slight modifications to some unannounced programs and events to hopefully avoid cancellation of them, and will announce those soon!
As far as the Party in the Park, we still are planning on hosting it on June 27th! There may be a change to that, or maybe just some creative changes on that same date, but we’re looking forward to it.
Planning for any event occurring after June (4th of July Parade, the Egg Run, etc) is moving forward as usual but obviously will be sensitive to any updates in information and guidance from the state.
We have no plans to schedule any in-person fitness classes until we get the all clear from the state. Given that the school is closed for the remainder of the school year, if we can return to a fitness class schedule before that time, we will open the doors of the future Community Center to host these classes.
In the meantime, both Danielle Rothy and Kat Hartson have been posting fitness videos and hosting live streams of their classes! Click on either of their names to be taken to their Facebook sites to access those.
Community Youth Sports Leagues:
We’ve been in-touch with the folks in charge of both the Fairfax Fletcher Westford Little League and United Lacrosse to discuss their plans. With both of those groups, it will be several more weeks until a determination is made regarding their season – we are hopeful they can proceed, and our fields are open to them for a modified season time-frame if needed.
While all town buildings are closed to the public (the town offices, community center building, etc), the Community Park on Hunt Street and the 100 Acre Woods are remaining open for as long as possible through this time. We do have some special guidance for going to these spaces though – which is posted below, and physically at the areas themselves.
As of March 25th, our maintenance schedule for this location is reduced to follow the guidelines set forth by the Stay Home, Stay Safe order.
Because of this, we are hoping you can help us keep this area clean and safe for all during this time!
- Maintain a safe distance from others users of this area (6 feet or more)
- Pack it in, pack it out (don’t leave trash here if possible)
- Pick up after your pets (please!)
- If you find trash, please help us by throwing it out
March 2020 Fitness Passes are no longer available
We’re incredibly excited to announce the availability of a membership pass that allows you to access the majority of the classes we’re offering in March for the low cost of $45!
If you were to attend all of the classes available with the membership pass, that’s a savings of $187!
Purchase a March Membership Pass for $45
Below you can find our March 2020 fitness schedule – all classes other than Yoga with Kat are included with the Monthly Membership pass!

Our initial membership pass offering is limited to the month of March, 2020 as a trial-run for this new program. Depending on the reception of it, we will discuss continuing this program for future time periods! As usual, you are also able to attend any class for it’s drop-in fee ($8 per class, with the exception of Yoga with Kat for the cost of $12 per class) in lieu of having a membership pass.
