Update: March 27th

Hi everyone, we have a few updates for you all.

First off, you’ll see directly above this update that we’ve established a Covid-19 web resource page on this website. It includes updates and information relevant to Fairfax residents, including a directory listing business closures and changes.

Community Events:

At this time, the only event we have cancelled is the Fairfax Egg Hunt (which was supposed to take place on April 4th). We are waiting for instruction from Green Up Vermont as we are currently discussing with them the possibility of moving Green Up day to May 30th, or potentially a different time this year.

We are making slight modifications to some unannounced programs and events to hopefully avoid cancellation of them, and will announce those soon!

As far as the Party in the Park, we still are planning on hosting it on June 27th! There may be a change to that, or maybe just some creative changes on that same date, but we’re looking forward to it.
Planning for any event occurring after June (4th of July Parade, the Egg Run, etc) is moving forward as usual but obviously will be sensitive to any updates in information and guidance from the state.

Fitness Classes:

We have no plans to schedule any in-person fitness classes until we get the all clear from the state. Given that the school is closed for the remainder of the school year, if we can return to a fitness class schedule before that time, we will open the doors of the future Community Center to host these classes.

In the meantime, both Danielle Rothy and Kat Hartson have been posting fitness videos and hosting live streams of their classes! Click on either of their names to be taken to their Facebook sites to access those.

Community Youth Sports Leagues:

We’ve been in-touch with the folks in charge of both the Fairfax Fletcher Westford Little League and United Lacrosse to discuss their plans. With both of those groups, it will be several more weeks until a determination is made regarding their season – we are hopeful they can proceed, and our fields are open to them for a modified season time-frame if needed.

Our Facilities:

While all town buildings are closed to the public (the town offices, community center building, etc), the Community Park on Hunt Street and the 100 Acre Woods are remaining open for as long as possible through this time. We do have some special guidance for going to these spaces though – which is posted below, and physically at the areas themselves.

————-

As of March 25th, our maintenance schedule for this location is reduced to follow the guidelines set forth by the Stay Home, Stay Safe order.
Because of this, we are hoping you can help us keep this area clean and safe for all during this time!

  1. Maintain a safe distance from others users of this area (6 feet or more)
  2. Pack it in, pack it out (don’t leave trash here if possible)
  3. Pick up after your pets (please!)
  4. If you find trash, please help us by throwing it out
